Alpaca Farm Tours
Enjoy a guided one - hour farm tour to see the rare and highly inquisitive alpaca, surely one of the most adorable and friendly animals in the world. Located just 20 minutes north of Christchurch, near Kaiapoi, Silverstream is open seven days a week with three tour departures per day at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. Reservations essential.
This is an interactive farm tour in small groups and escorted by the owners (Kit or Sheryl).
The tour includes an informative and entertaining commentary, a brief safety talk and the chance to feed, touch, hold babies (in season), photograph and video the alpacas. Great family entertainment and suitable for all age groups. Beautiful gardens with well-established trees and a river setting add to the appeal of this popular hands-on experience.

Visitors will be able to feed the animals, touch and handle the animals and marvel at the soft and lustrous fibre. Crias (babies) in season can be held for photographs.
Hands On Experience
Kit (the owner) personally escorts each tour and he will provide an entertaining and informative commentary and answer any questions that may arise.
Guided by the Expert
The tour concludes with a visit to our fibre shed, show room and alpaca shop.
Alpace fibre once touched is never forgotten – visitors are amazed at the soft handle of the wool and luxurious feel of the alpaca garments.
Trophy Room & Shop
Silverstream Alpaca Stud has expansive lawns and gardens with a river setting. Visitors are welcome to stay as long as they wish and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings that make Silverstream so special.
